Daily & Weekly Usage

Using Clefora Day-to-Day

How to get the most out of lesson digests, practice goals, and messaging.

Reading Lesson Digests

After each lesson, the teacher posts a digest of what your child worked on. You'll typically see:

  • Pieces or songs they practised
  • Technical skills they're developing (scales, chords, etc.)
  • What went well in the lesson
  • Areas that need more practice
  • Upcoming goals or events (recitals, exams)

Check lesson digests within a day or two so you know what your child should be practising this week.

Tracking Practice Goals

Practice goals break down homework into specific tasks. Instead of vague "practise your music" instructions, you'll see exactly what your child should work on.

Example practice goals:

  • Practise Minuet in G measures 1–8 slowly, 5 times each day
  • Play C major scale hands together 3 times
  • Clap rhythm exercise on page 12 (completed!)

Tap a goal to mark it as practised. The teacher sees what was completed before the next lesson — creating accountability without constant follow-ups.

Messaging the Teacher

Use the built-in messaging to communicate with the teacher. All messages are linked to your child's profile, so context is never lost.

Good reasons to message:

  • Schedule changes or holiday dates
  • Questions about practice goals
  • Sharing positive updates about practice at home
  • Asking about upcoming recitals or exams
  • Letting them know about challenges your child is facing

Supporting Practice at Home

You don't need musical expertise to help your child succeed.

Using Practice Goals

  • Review goals with your child at the start of practice
  • Let them mark goals complete for a sense of accomplishment
  • Focus on completing goals, not just "time at the instrument"
  • Celebrate when all goals are done before the next lesson

No Musical Background? No Problem

You don't need to read music or play an instrument to support your child. Clefora tells you exactly what to encourage:

  • • Read the teacher's lesson digest to know what was covered
  • • Check practice goals for specific tasks to encourage
  • • Create a consistent practice time each day
  • • Be present during some practice sessions
  • • Ask your child to play something they're proud of
  • • Focus on effort, not perfection

Understanding Milestones

  • Milestones mark significant achievements in your child's journey
  • Examples: "Learned all major scales," "Passed Grade 1," "First recital"
  • You're notified when the teacher marks a milestone complete
  • Over time, they show your child's full progress — not just one lesson

Invoices & Payments

  • Receive invoices by email when the teacher sends them
  • Pay online by card — no cash or bank transfers needed
  • View payment history and download receipts
  • Payments are processed securely through Stripe

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Clefora?
Clefora is a communication platform that connects music teachers with parents. Your child's teacher uses it to share lesson digests, set practice goals, track milestones, manage billing, and coordinate exam entries. As a parent, you see what happened in every lesson and exactly what your child should practise at home.
Why did my child's teacher invite me?
Your child's teacher wants to keep you informed about lessons and progress. Instead of verbal updates at pickup or scattered messages, Clefora gives you a central place to see lesson digests, practice goals, progress milestones, invoices, and exam updates. It helps you stay connected to your child's musical journey.
Is Clefora free for parents?
Yes. Parent accounts are always free. There are no hidden costs, no premium features locked behind a paywall, and no payment required to use any parent feature. You get full access to lesson digests, practice goals, progress tracking, messaging, invoices, and exam updates.
Can I see my child's private teacher notes?
No, and this is by design. Teachers have private notes that only they can see — these might include teaching strategies or observations about learning styles. What you see are lesson digests that teachers specifically share with parents, which focus on what was covered and what to practise.
What if I have multiple children taking lessons?
Each child appears separately in your Clefora account. You can switch between children to see their individual lesson history, practice goals, and milestones. If they have different teachers, you'll be connected to each teacher through the respective child's profile. One free account covers everything.
How do notifications work?
Enable push notifications to receive alerts when the teacher posts a lesson digest, sends a message, marks a milestone complete, or sends an invoice. You control which notifications you receive in your settings.
Is my information secure?
Yes. Clefora uses secure authentication (Google, Apple, or email) and encrypts sensitive data with AES-256 encryption. Your personal information is only shared with your child's teacher, not with other users or third parties.
What if I don't have an invitation yet?
Ask your child's music teacher about Clefora. Many teachers are already using it for lesson management and parent communication. You can share the website with them: clefora.app
